PixlQR Review (2026): Pricing, Features & Honest Verdict
PixlQR is a dynamic QR code and branded short link platform with real-time scan analytics, free for static codes and $6/mo for the Plus tier. It undercuts Bitly by roughly five times for the same number of dynamic codes, which is the entire reason to look at it. Best for: marketers and small businesses running print and packaging campaigns. Price: from $6/mo (free plan: yes). Rating: 7/10.
What is PixlQR?
PixlQR generates QR codes you can edit after they are printed. That is the difference between a static and a dynamic code, and it is the whole category: a static code encodes the destination directly, so changing it means reprinting everything, while a dynamic code encodes a redirect you control. Every dynamic code on PixlQR also gets a branded short link on pxqr.io, and every scan and click is tracked by location, device, browser, and timestamp.
We found it at #22 on Product Hunt on 6 August 2026 with 39 upvotes. It is built by a solo developer, Zahar, which is the first thing you should weigh. It is also a complete commercial product rather than a weekend project: an owned domain, a published price ladder, 24 or more QR types, a real analytics layer, folder organisation, file hosting, and landing page creation. The category is crowded and commoditised, and PixlQR is competing on one axis only.
That axis is price. It works.
What are PixlQR’s key features?
Dynamic codes that scale from 10 to 1,000
The free plan gives you 2 dynamic codes. Plus starts at 10 and scales up to 1,000, and you choose the size at checkout rather than moving between named tiers. Static codes are unlimited on both plans and scans are unlimited on both, which is worth noting because several competitors meter scans and that is where their bills come from.
The flexible sizing is the right model for this product. A restaurant needs three codes forever. An agency running client campaigns needs a number that changes every quarter. Being able to pick and change the count without a plan migration is better than Bitly’s fixed rungs.
Real-time analytics and a live scan map
Plus tracks scans and clicks by location, device, browser, and timestamp, renders them on a live scan map, and exports to CSV and Excel. The free plan gets limited analytics after the 7-day trial ends, which is honest labelling for a feature that is genuinely the paid hook.
Analytics is the reason dynamic QR codes exist as a paid product at all. A printed code with no reporting tells you nothing about whether the campaign worked. The exports matter more than the map: a live map is a demo, a CSV is something you can join against your own data.
Branded short links on pxqr.io
Every dynamic code carries a matching short link, so the same destination works whether someone scans the code or clicks a link in an email. One tracked destination, two channels, one report. That is a sensible piece of product design and it is bundled rather than sold separately.
The domain is the weak point. pxqr.io is not a name anyone recognises, and short links in the wild get less trust than they used to. A custom domain on your own brand would fix this and PixlQR does not appear to offer one at any published tier, which is a real gap against Bitly and Rebrandly.
Design control and file hosting
Custom colours, a custom logo in the code, high-resolution downloads, and PNG, JPEG, SVG, and PDF export on Plus against PNG and JPEG on Free. SVG and PDF are the ones that matter: if the code is going on packaging or a poster, your printer will ask for vector, and a tool that only does raster is not usable for print.
Each code also gets file storage, 5MB on Free and 50MB on Plus, plus landing page creation. That covers the common case of a QR code on a menu pointing at a PDF without needing somewhere else to host it. Plus also removes PixlQR branding from landing pages and removes ads, which is the usual line and is fairly drawn here.
How much does PixlQR cost?
PixlQR starts at $6/mo for Plus, billed at $72 a year. The free plan is $0 and permanent: unlimited static codes, 2 dynamic codes, unlimited scans, all 24 or more QR types, custom design, PNG and JPEG downloads, 5MB of storage per code, and a self-service help centre. Every new account also gets a 7-day Plus trial with no card required, after which analytics drop back to limited.
Against the incumbents this is not a close contest. Bitly’s Growth plan is $29/mo on annual billing for 10 QR codes and 500 links. PixlQR’s Plus is $6/mo for the same 10 dynamic codes with the short link included per code. Bitly’s free tier gives you 2 QR codes a month and 5 links a month; PixlQR’s free tier gives 2 dynamic codes and unlimited static ones. Uniqode starts around $9/mo for dynamic codes and is annual-only. On the entry price for dynamic codes with analytics, PixlQR is the cheapest credible option we have looked at.
What is not published about PixlQR’s pricing?
Two things, and you should know both before you buy.
The pricing page defaults to the yearly view. It shows $6/mo with “Billed $72 yearly” and a toggle offering Monthly with a “Save 33%” badge on the yearly option. The monthly figure is not in the page at all. We dumped the rendered DOM and grepped the payload: the only price tokens present are $0, $6, and $72. So if you want to pay month to month, you will find out what that costs at checkout. The 33% saving implies it is meaningfully higher, and the site does not say by how much.
The same applies to volume. “Plus scales from 10 up to 1,000 dynamic QR codes, pick the size that fits when you upgrade” is a good model and a bad disclosure. There is no published rate for 100 codes or 500 codes. If you are evaluating PixlQR for anything beyond the entry tier, the comparison you actually need to make is not on the pricing page.
Neither of these is a reason to walk away, and the entry price is committed and public, which is more than a lot of launches manage. But a product whose single selling point is price should publish all of its prices.
| Plan | Price | Plan Features | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0/mo | Unlimited static QR codes, 2 dynamic QR codes, unlimited scans, all 24+ QR types, custom design, PNG and JPEG downloads, 5MB storage per QR, PixlQR branding shown, limited analytics after the 7-day Plus trial | Individuals and hobbyists |
| Plus | $6/mo | Billed $72 yearly. 10 dynamic QR codes scaling to 1,000, branded short link per dynamic QR on pxqr.io, advanced real-time analytics, live scan map, CSV and Excel export, PNG/JPEG/SVG/PDF downloads, custom logo and branding, unlimited folders, 50MB storage per QR, branding removed | Marketers and small businesses running print campaigns |
Who is PixlQR best for?
Use PixlQR if you need a handful of dynamic codes with analytics and you object to paying $29/mo for them. Restaurants with QR menus, small shops putting codes on packaging, event organisers, and marketers running print campaigns are all well served here, and the free tier is genuinely usable for anyone who only needs static codes.
Use it if you want vector exports for print without buying a business tier, which is where several competitors put SVG and PDF.
Skip PixlQR if you need a custom short domain on your own brand, because pxqr.io is what you get. Skip it if you need team seats, roles, or an API, none of which appear at any published tier. Skip it if you are running enterprise campaigns where procurement will ask about SOC 2 and an SLA. And weigh the key-person risk honestly: this is one developer, and a QR code that stops redirecting is a printed asset that stops working. If the codes are going on something expensive and permanent, that risk is priced into the $23 a month you are saving.
Best PixlQR alternatives
Bitly is the incumbent and the safe choice. Free plan at 2 QR codes and 5 links a month, Core at $10/mo annual, Growth at $29/mo annual or $35 monthly, Premium at $199/mo annual. You are paying several times over for the same feature set, and what you get for it is a recognised short domain, a real company, and an API. For anything client-facing or long-lived, that is a defensible purchase.
Uniqode, formerly Beaconstac, is the QR specialist. Starter is around $9/mo, Core around $49/mo, annual billing only, with a 14-day trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Deeper QR features than either PixlQR or Bitly, bulk generation, and proper team management. The right answer at scale and overkill for ten codes.
Rebrandly comes at it from the link side and is the one to look at if the custom domain is what you actually want. Its whole product is branded links on a domain you own, with QR codes attached. More expensive than PixlQR and better at the specific thing PixlQR cannot do.
Final verdict: is PixlQR worth it?
For the small user, yes, and the case is simple. Ten dynamic QR codes with real-time analytics, CSV export, vector downloads, branded short links, and no branding on your landing pages, for $6/mo. Bitly charges $29/mo for the same code count with a worse free tier underneath it. The free plan is usable rather than decorative, the 7-day Plus trial needs no card, and unlimited scans on every tier means the bill does not move when a campaign works. If you are a small business or a marketer with a print campaign and a modest number of codes, this is the best value in the category right now.
The caveats are the ones that come with buying from one person. There is no custom domain, no API, no team seats, and no monthly price published anywhere on the site. The volume pricing that the page advertises as a feature is invisible until checkout. And a dynamic QR code is a dependency: if the service goes away, every printed code pointing at pxqr.io stops working, and no export saves you from that. Start on the free tier, run one real campaign through it, and keep the destinations somewhere you control. Do that and $6 is an easy yes.
PixlQR Pros & Cons
What We Like
- Ten dynamic QR codes for $6/mo where Bitly charges $29/mo on annual billing for the same count
- Unlimited scans on every tier, including free, so a successful campaign does not raise the bill
- SVG and PDF exports on the entry paid tier, which several competitors reserve for business plans
- Plus scales from 10 to 1,000 dynamic codes without a plan migration
- Free plan is usable rather than decorative: unlimited static codes, 2 dynamic codes, all 24+ QR types
What Could Be Better
- No custom short domain, so every link runs on the unfamiliar pxqr.io
- The monthly billing price is not published anywhere on the site, only the $6/mo yearly rate
- Volume pricing above 10 dynamic codes is chosen at checkout and never listed
- No API, no team seats and no roles at any published tier
- Solo developer, and a dynamic QR code that stops redirecting takes printed assets down with it
PixlQR FAQ
What is PixlQR?
PixlQR is a platform for creating dynamic QR codes you can edit after they are printed, paired with branded short links and real-time scan analytics. A dynamic code encodes a redirect you control rather than the destination itself, so you can change where it points without reprinting anything. Every scan and click is tracked by location, device, browser and timestamp, and the platform supports 24 or more QR types.
How much does PixlQR cost?
PixlQR starts at $6/mo for the Plus plan, billed at $72 a year. That covers 10 dynamic QR codes, branded short links, advanced real-time analytics, CSV and Excel export, and PNG, JPEG, SVG and PDF downloads. The Free plan is $0 and permanent, with unlimited static codes and 2 dynamic codes. The monthly billing rate is not published on the site, only the yearly one.
Is PixlQR worth it?
For small users, yes. Ten dynamic QR codes with real-time analytics, vector exports and no branding on your landing pages for $6/mo compares well against Bitly's $29/mo Growth plan for the same code count. The caveats are that you get no custom domain, no API and no team seats, and buying from a solo developer carries real continuity risk when the codes are already printed on packaging.
What are the best PixlQR alternatives?
Bitly is the incumbent and the safe choice, with a free plan at 2 QR codes a month and paid tiers from $10/mo to $199/mo, plus a recognised short domain and an API. Uniqode, formerly Beaconstac, is the QR specialist at around $9/mo for Starter and $49/mo for Core, annual billing only, with deeper bulk and team features. Rebrandly is the one to pick if a branded domain you own is what you actually want.
Does PixlQR offer a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan is permanent and includes unlimited static QR codes, 2 dynamic QR codes, unlimited scans, all 24 or more QR types, custom design and PNG and JPEG downloads, with 5MB of storage per code. No credit card is required. Every new account also gets a 7-day Plus trial, after which analytics fall back to a limited view and PixlQR branding stays on landing pages.
Who is PixlQR best for?
Marketers and small businesses running print, packaging or event campaigns who need a handful of dynamic codes with analytics and do not want to pay incumbent prices for them. Restaurants with QR menus, small shops and event organisers are well served. It is a poor fit for enterprise campaigns needing a custom domain, an API, team roles or a procurement-friendly vendor with an SLA.
