Privent Review (2026): Pricing, Features & Honest Verdict

Reviewed by MakerStack · Published · 7 min read

Privent is a runtime security layer for n8n AI agents that runs as a native node inside your workflow, tokenizing PII and secrets before they reach any external model and restoring them only at endpoints you trust. It solves a real and badly covered problem, and the free tier is a genuinely useful risk scan. Best for: teams running n8n agents that touch customer or patient data. Price: from $83/mo (free plan: yes). Rating: 7/10.

What is Privent?

Privent is agent security for n8n. It installs as a native node in your workflow and sits between your agent and whatever external model it calls. Everything the agent has gathered passes through Privent first, where sensitive fields are classified, then masked, tokenized, allowed or blocked according to policy, and every action is risk-scored and logged. It launched its second Product Hunt version on 24 July 2026 at privent.ai, built by Asil Ozyildirim, Gorkem Yagci and Rifat Kasikci under Privent Technologies, Inc.

The distinction that matters is tokenization versus redaction. n8n ships a Guardrails node that redacts sensitive data, and redaction is permanent. Once the patient name is gone, it is gone, and your downstream step that needed to write to the EHR is now broken. Privent swaps the sensitive value for a token, lets the model work on the safe version, then reverses the swap at destinations you designate. The model never sees the real data and your pipeline still functions. That is a meaningfully harder engineering problem and it is the reason this product exists.

The problem it targets is one most teams have not looked at yet. n8n workflows chain tool calls, pull internal records and compose their own prompts at runtime. No gateway sees what moves between steps. You can have a perfectly compliant data policy and still be shipping patient records to a third-party model because an agent decided that was the useful context. Privent reports 5,000+ installs of its n8n-nodes-privent npm package, so the concern is clearly resonating.

What are Privent’s key features?

Native n8n node, no proxy

Privent ships as official n8n nodes that drop into an existing workflow. No proxy to stand up, no DNS changes, no rewriting your flows. This is the right architectural choice and it is why adoption looks healthy. Every competing approach in this space wants to be a gateway, which means infrastructure work, a new failure point, and a conversation with whoever owns your network. Dropping a node into a canvas is a five-minute job that a solutions engineer can do without filing a ticket.

Reversible tokenization with an encrypted vault

Sensitive values are replaced before the model call and restored afterwards inside systems you trust, backed by a persistent encrypted vault on paid plans. This is what separates Privent from a regex-based scrubber. Scrubbing breaks workflows. Tokenization preserves them. The vault means tokens stay consistent across executions, so an agent can reason about “customer 4471” across multiple steps without ever seeing a real name.

ML-based PII detection and risk scoring

Paid tiers add machine-learning detection on top of pattern matching, and every agent action gets a risk score. Pattern matching catches credit cards and social security numbers. It does not catch a patient’s symptom description or an API key embedded in a free-text field, which is exactly what agents connected to EHR and FHIR endpoints surface in prompts. How good the ML detection actually is remains unproven from the outside, and it is the thing we would stress-test hardest during a trial.

Audit trails and on-prem deployment

Every detection event is logged with risk signals, category, decision and timestamp, with no raw content stored, and the log exports as evidence for HIPAA, GDPR and EU AI Act reviews. Deployment runs from managed multi-tenant cloud through a dedicated isolated environment to fully on-prem, where Privent installs the entire stack inside your network including the detection models. For healthcare and finance teams, the on-prem option is not a nice-to-have, it is the only version of this that passes review.

How much does Privent cost?

Privent starts at $83/mo for Pro. The Free tier costs nothing and needs no account or API key: you get tokenless visitor sessions, real-time risk scoring and the n8n native node, which is enough to run the risk scan and see what your agents are actually leaking. Pro at $83/mo adds API key authentication, the persistent encrypted vault, ML-based PII detection and full audit trails, with 2,000 executions included and usage-based billing after that up to a hard cap of 10,000 executions a month. Teams at $179/mo covers 12,000 executions with GDPR and HIPAA export, multiple team members and priority support. On-prem and custom limits go through sales.

Against dedicated data-privacy vendors this is cheap. Skyflow and Nightfall AI both start in the four figures a month once you are past a trial, and neither has a native n8n integration. Against the alternative of doing nothing, $83/mo is roughly one hour of a compliance consultant’s time.

The tier structure is the weak point. Pro at $83 gets 10,000 executions, Teams at $179 gets 12,000. You pay 2.2 times as much for 20% more volume, because the real purchase is compliance export and multi-user access, not throughput. That is a defensible way to package it but the pricing page presents both as execution tiers, which reads as bad value until you notice what actually changes. Pro’s own description is also self-contradictory: a “10k executions/mo hard cap” alongside “2,000 executions included, then usage-based.” Both cannot be the headline number, and nowhere on the page does it say what an execution past 2,000 costs.

Who is Privent best for?

Use Privent if you run n8n agents that touch regulated data. Healthcare is the obvious case and the site leans into it: intake, triage and scheduling flows that pull patient records and compose prompts with no human in the loop. If that describes your automation and you have not put anything between the agent and the model, you have a HIPAA exposure and Privent is the cheapest available fix.

Use it if you need audit evidence more than you need blocking. The exportable log with risk signals, decisions and timestamps is the artefact a compliance reviewer asks for, and assembling that by hand from n8n execution history is miserable work.

Use it if your security team has already said no to sending data to external models. On-prem deployment with the detection models inside your network is the answer to that objection, and very few tools in this space offer it at this price.

Skip Privent if you are not on n8n. Everything here is built around n8n nodes. There is no Make, Zapier, LangChain or custom-code story, so if your agents live anywhere else this is not yet your tool. That is a large limitation for a product whose problem statement applies to every agent framework.

Skip it if you are a solo maker running low-stakes automations. $83/mo is real money for a one-person operation, and if your agents only touch public data and your own notes, the free risk scan tells you everything you need. Run the scan, confirm you are clean, and move on.

We would also flag that this is the team’s second pivot in a short window, from a browser-based monitoring extension to workflow-engine security. The new direction is sharper, but it means the product is young and the roadmap could move again.

Best Privent alternatives

n8n Guardrails node. Free and built in. It redacts sensitive data before model calls and costs nothing. The limitation is that redaction is permanent, so any downstream step needing the real value breaks. Fine for flows that only read and summarise. Not workable for flows that write back to a system of record.

Nightfall AI. Mature cloud DLP with strong ML classifiers and broad SaaS coverage, priced for enterprise and typically quoted rather than listed. Better detection maturity and far broader integration coverage than Privent. No native n8n node, so you are building the plumbing yourself.

Skyflow. A dedicated privacy vault with proper tokenization, polymorphic encryption and serious compliance credentials. The right answer if data privacy is core architecture rather than a workflow add-on. Costs considerably more and needs real engineering time to adopt.

Final verdict: is Privent worth it?

Privent is solving a problem that will be obvious to everyone in about a year and is currently invisible to most teams shipping n8n agents. The insight that separates it from the free Guardrails node is sound: masking without reversibility just breaks your workflow, so the interesting engineering is in restoring data safely at trusted endpoints. Delivering that as a drop-in node rather than a gateway is what makes it adoptable, and 5,000+ npm installs suggest that is landing. For a healthcare or fintech team running agents on n8n, this is an easy yes at $83/mo.

For everyone else the case is thinner. The n8n-only scope is a hard boundary, the pricing page contradicts itself on what Pro actually includes, and the ML detection quality is unproven from outside a trial. The right move is to run the free risk scan first, because it costs nothing and tells you whether you have a problem at all. If it comes back clean, you have your answer. If it comes back showing patient records or API keys crossing into a third-party model, stop reading reviews and start a Pro trial the same day.

Privent Pros & Cons

What We Like

  • Reversible tokenization instead of permanent redaction, so downstream steps that need the real value keep working
  • Ships as a native n8n node with no proxy, no DNS changes and no workflow rewrites
  • Exportable audit trail with risk signals, category, decision and timestamp, and no raw content stored
  • Fully on-prem deployment available, including the detection models, on every plan
  • Free tier needs no account or API key and runs a real risk scan on your existing workflows

What Could Be Better

  • n8n only: no Make, Zapier, LangChain or custom-code support, despite the problem applying to every agent framework
  • Pro is described as both a 10,000 execution hard cap and 2,000 executions then usage-based, and overage pricing is never stated
  • Teams costs 2.2x Pro for 20% more executions, because the real upgrade is compliance export rather than volume
  • ML-based PII detection quality is unproven from outside a trial
  • Second pivot in a short window, so the roadmap could move again

Privent FAQ

What is Privent?

Privent is a runtime security layer for n8n AI agents. It installs as a native node between your agent and any external model, classifies the data passing through, then masks, tokenizes, allows or blocks it by policy, and logs every action with a risk score. It launched its second Product Hunt version on 24 July 2026.

How much does Privent cost?

Privent starts at $83/mo for Pro, which covers up to 10,000 executions a month with 2,000 included and usage-based billing after that. Teams is $179/mo for 12,000 executions plus GDPR and HIPAA export. The free tier costs nothing and needs no account. On-prem is quoted by sales.

Is Privent worth it?

For a healthcare or fintech team running n8n agents on regulated data, yes, easily at $83/mo. For a solo maker whose agents only touch public data, no. Run the free risk scan, confirm you are clean and move on. The scan costs nothing and answers the question directly.

What are the best Privent alternatives?

n8n's built-in Guardrails node is free but redacts permanently, which breaks any step needing the real value. Nightfall AI has more mature detection and far broader SaaS coverage but no native n8n node. Skyflow is a proper privacy vault with serious compliance credentials at considerably higher cost and effort.

Does Privent offer a free plan?

Yes. The free tier gives tokenless visitor sessions, real-time risk scoring and the native n8n node, with no account or API key required. It is enough to scan your existing workflows and see what your agents are actually sending to external models.

Who is Privent best for?

Teams running n8n agents that touch patient records, customer PII or credentials, especially in healthcare and finance, and anyone who needs exportable audit evidence for HIPAA, GDPR or EU AI Act reviews. Skip it if your agents live outside n8n or only handle public data.
