Sourclip Review (2026): Pricing, Features & Honest Verdict

Sourclip is a Chrome extension that adds the workflow layer Google left out of NotebookLM: bulk capture, folders, saved prompts and artifact export. Best for: researchers and writers who already live in NotebookLM. Price: free forever, Pro $24/year, Lifetime $49 one-time. Rating: 7/10.

Sourclip 2.0 landed on Product Hunt on 1 September 2026, its second launch after an original in July. We looked at the pricing page, the about page, the refund policy and the extension’s own feature list, and came away thinking this is one of the better-executed single-purpose tools we have seen this year. It also carries a risk that is entirely outside its control.

What is Sourclip?

Google NotebookLM is very good at thinking about sources you give it and very bad at helping you give it sources. There is no bulk import, no folder structure across notebooks, no prompt library, no way to download the audio overview it just made for you. Sourclip is a Chrome extension plus a companion website that fills every one of those holes. You click once on any page, YouTube video, PDF, Reddit thread or ChatGPT conversation and it lands in the notebook you chose. Then you organise notebooks into folders, reuse prompts you saved, and export the result as Markdown, HTML, PDF, audio or video.

It is built by Aditya, a solo maker, and it is worth being clear-eyed about what that means, in both directions. On the plus side, the product is far more developed than “solo project” usually implies: a 230+ database research source directory, a curated public notebook directory, an MCP server directory, a 30+ prompt library, guides, a blog, a free browser toolkit with a Markdown cleaner, a PDF splitter and a mind map editor, and an affiliate programme. Its homepage reports 400+ users and 12,000+ captures, which is small but real. On the minus side, support and refunds run through a Gmail address, and there is no company entity named anywhere on the site. More on that below.

What Are Sourclip’s Key Features?

One-click capture from almost anywhere

This is the reason to install it. Sourclip injects a “Save to NotebookLM” button directly into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok and DeepSeek, so an entire AI conversation becomes a source in one click. It also captures web pages, PDFs from any Chrome tab, Reddit posts with structured formatting, X posts, and YouTube. The YouTube handling is the standout: not just individual videos but whole playlists, entire channels, and search results. Right-click any text selection and you can send just that excerpt. Anyone who has manually pasted twelve URLs into NotebookLM one at a time will recognise exactly how much time this saves.

Export for the artifacts Google will not let you download

NotebookLM generates study guides, briefings, FAQs, timelines, flashcards, quizzes, audio overviews, videos and slides, and then keeps most of them locked inside the notebook. Sourclip pulls notes, guides, FAQs, briefings and timelines out as Markdown, flashcards and quizzes as interactive HTML, audio overviews as mp3 or m4a, videos as mp4 and slides as PDF. It also turns audio overviews into a private podcast RSS feed, which is the single most-liked feature in the maker’s own description and the one we would use most. Being able to listen to your own research on a walk instead of reading it on a fourth screen is a real change in how you work.

Workspace, folders and a prompt library

NotebookLM gives you a flat list of notebooks and nothing else. Sourclip adds a workspace dashboard, folders, bulk source management, cross-notebook global search on Ctrl+K, and a library of reusable prompts with shortcuts. The prompt piece matters more than it looks. If you run the same six analysis prompts on every notebook, retyping them is a small tax you pay dozens of times a week. There is also a mind map editor with 10 new maps a month on the free plan.

Local processing, which is a real design decision

Sourclip states that all capture processing runs in your browser and its servers never receive, store or process the content you capture. Free users keep workspace data locally. Pro users get cloud sync, and the sync covers folders, prompts and settings only, not research content. For anyone capturing client material, internal documents or anything under an NDA, that architecture is the difference between “I can install this” and “legal will never allow it”. It is also the honest reason the extension asks for broad browser permissions, and the site explains that rather than burying it.

How Much Does Sourclip Cost?

Sourclip is free forever with real limits rather than a crippled demo: 10 captures a day, 10 exports a day, up to 5 folders, 3 saved prompts, 10 new mind maps a month, plus AI chat capture, YouTube import up to 15 videos, Reddit capture, PDF capture, the workspace dashboard, capture history and bulk source management. No account is required to start capturing. Pro is $24 a year and lifts every cap: unlimited captures, exports, folders, saved prompts and mind maps, full YouTube import including playlists, channels and search, cloud sync across devices, custom branding on exports and priority support. Lifetime is $49 once, which is everything in Pro forever plus all future updates.

$24 a year is $2 a month. That is not a pricing strategy, it is a rounding error, and it makes the comparison against the alternatives lopsided. Readwise Reader, the closest thing to a mainstream competitor for capture-and-read workflows, costs $9.99 a month billed annually ($119.88 a year) or $12.99 monthly. Sourclip Pro costs one fifth of Readwise’s annual bill, and Sourclip Lifetime costs less than five months of Readwise. Obsidian is free without limits with a free web clipper, but Sync is $4 per user per month billed annually and it does not talk to NotebookLM at all.

The Lifetime plan is the interesting one and the one that needs the most thought. $49 once for a tool that saves you an hour a week is an obvious buy on the maths. It is also a bet on a solo maker still shipping in three years, and lifetime deals from one-person companies have a mixed record. The 7-day refund window on Lifetime is fair. The 3-day refund window on the annual Pro plan is tight, and shorter than the industry norm of 14 or 30 days.

The support and entity gap

Cancellation, refunds and support all route to numerbyte@gmail.com. There is no registered company name, no business address and no support desk anywhere on the site, including in the terms and the refund policy. That is not disqualifying at $24 a year, and the refund policy itself is clearly written with specific windows and processing times, which is more than many funded startups manage. But it is the correct thing to weigh before buying Lifetime, and it is the reason we would take Pro at $24 first and upgrade later once the tool has proved itself on your actual workflow.

Who is Sourclip Best For?

Use Sourclip if NotebookLM is already part of how you work and the friction is getting sources in and results out. Researchers, analysts, students, content strategists, competitive intelligence people and anyone who reads across YouTube, Reddit and PDFs in the same project will feel the difference on day one. Use it if you want the audio overviews as a private podcast feed, because nothing else does that. Use it if you handle sensitive material and need capture processing to stay local. And install the free tier without hesitation, because 10 captures a day covers a real amount of work and there is no account required to find out.

Skip Sourclip if you are not already committed to NotebookLM, because the whole product is a layer on top of someone else’s tool and it is worthless without it. Skip it if you work in Firefox or Safari, which are not supported. Skip it if your workflow is reading rather than research synthesis, where Readwise Reader is a better and much deeper product for the money. And think twice about Lifetime specifically if you need contractual assurance from a named legal entity, because there is not one here.

Best Sourclip Alternatives

NotebookLM on its own is the alternative most people will actually choose, and it is free with a Google account. You get the analysis, the audio overviews, the study guides and the source grounding. What you do not get is bulk import, folders, saved prompts, cross-notebook search or any way to download most of what it produces. Google’s paid AI plans raise usage limits but do not add the workflow layer. If you use NotebookLM twice a month, plain NotebookLM is fine and Sourclip solves a problem you do not have.

Readwise Reader at $9.99/mo billed annually, or $12.99 monthly, with a 30-day free trial, is the serious competitor for capture and reading. It has a far bigger feature surface, apps on every platform, highlight syncing, spaced repetition and a decade of polish. It is also a different product: Reader is where you read and highlight, Sourclip is where you feed an AI research assistant. Several people will sensibly run both. Reader costs five times more per year.

Obsidian with its Web Clipper is free, local-first and open-ended, with optional Sync at $4 per user per month billed annually and Publish at $8 per site per month. If your priority is owning your notes as plain files forever, Obsidian wins outright. If your priority is getting 40 YouTube videos into an AI that will then interrogate them for you, Obsidian does not compete, because it has no NotebookLM integration at all.

Final Verdict: Is Sourclip Worth It?

Sourclip is worth installing today and worth $24 within a week if you use NotebookLM seriously. It does exactly one thing, it does it well, the free tier is honest rather than a trap, and the pricing is close to free. The private podcast feed for audio overviews and the whole-channel YouTube import are the two features we would miss immediately after using them. The local-processing architecture is a deliberate choice that most extension makers would not have bothered with, and the site explains its permissions rather than hiding them.

The risk is not the maker and it is not the code. It is that Sourclip is a list of features Google has not built yet, in a product Google is actively developing. Bulk import and folders are the two most requested things in NotebookLM, and if Google ships them, a chunk of this product evaporates. The maker knows it, which is why the website is quietly becoming a NotebookLM destination in its own right with directories, guides and a prompt library rather than only an extension. That is the right strategy. It is also unfinished. Buy Pro at $24 a year, which is cheap enough that platform risk barely registers, and hold off on the $49 Lifetime until you have used it for a month. We rate it 7/10.
